I’m making some final edits to the gorgeous presentation created for my all new and updated Smart Women Finish Rich seminar. Have you signed up yet?
I joined Ric Edelman on his radio show last week to share the #1 reason why women need to take charge of their financial futures sooner rather than later. Ladies, please take just a few minutes to tune in to this short clip. It’s an important conversation that every woman needs to hear concerning social security and retirement – a real eye opener. Click here to listen.
Understanding what money really means to you, not only makes it possible to plan your future intelligently, it also makes it easier to stick to your plan. Values are what we believe in, they’re what motivate us and shape us. I invite you to get really clear on your own values. Join us for one of our upcoming Smart Women Finish Rich seminars. Bring a friend and share this post so all the other smart women in your life can benefit as well. Thanks!
Smart Women Finish Rich
When I pitched this book in 1997, all the big publishers met with me. But they all also told me that women wouldn’t buy the book. They said to me in meeting after meeting, “Women don’t buy investment books. You will be lucky to sell 10,000 to 15,000 copies.” Well, we proved them wrong — try over ONE MILLION in print.
Funny, right? Women buy 85% of all books and yet the publishers thought women wouldn’t buy one about money? Amazingly 20 years later, the publishers are still telling me “This won’t work.” Fortunately, my publisher believes in you and I just convinced them to print more copies.
Thank you Random House. Next up — an update for 2015 (mid-year). Stay tuned!
What cracks me up is that so many men don’t get it. What don’t they get? They don’t get that women make better clients than men. Ladies, on average you refer 3 to 1 vs men. You know why that is? Hmmmm…it’s because you have this thing called “friends.” Guys, when you get over 40, you’re lucky if you can count your good buddies on one hand. My wife can talk to 10 friends in an hour. Guess who gives out more referrals? My wife. Duh. Wake up guys in the business world, you want women clients.
And to my men buddies out there, it might not hurt for us guys to stay in touch too. I can’t prove this one, but I think one of the reasons women outlive us by at least five to seven years is because they have more friends. So men, go call your old buddy today and say “hi.”
I bet he misses you too.
Hey guys, last week I went on a crusade for the women in our FinishRich community to get them going on taking charge of their money. The one thing I know about a lot of you guys is that you really love the women in your lives. You love your grandma, mom, sister, wife, girlfriend…and you’re an advocate for them. You want to be their hero and their savior. You care deeply about them. You’re one of the good guys.
If that is you, today I ask you to consider protecting them by giving them the push to protect themselves through financial education. I’ve got a program on women and money called Smart Women Finish Rich. Check it out here. It’s helped women all over the world feel safer and more secure when it comes to their financial well being.
If you have women in your life that you love, can you pass this along to them today? Share it with them. The class is amazing and they will thank you for the information, I promise.

The other day, I told you about my Grandma Bach who inspired me to teach the seminar, Smart Women Finish Rich. What I didn’t share with you was the rest of the story of how it all began. In 1993, when I entered the financial service business alongside my father, I sat in his meetings and trained by his side, meeting with clients.
I was brand new to the business. We had a lot of older clients. And, unfortunately over a period of thirty days, I sat in three meetings with widows. In two cases, the husbands had passed suddenly. In the other case, the husband had been very sick with cancer. In all three cases, the women were distraught with grief and pain as they were sitting in our office, learning how to read our brokerage statements and feeling terrified about their lack of knowledge about their finances and whether they would be “okay.” One even had to learn how to write checks.
In all three cases the women would be okay, and fortunately they had a great honest financial advisor – my father. But all I could think was, “This is crazy. The WORST time to learn about money is after your husband dies.”
Then, that same month, my mom started sharing stories about her best friend being wiped out financially by divorce. Again I thought, “This is crazy. The WORST time to learn about money is when you are getting divorced.”
And that is when I looked up at my mom one day over lunch and said, “Mom, I’m going to do something about this. I am going to teach a class on women and money and get these women clients of ours up to speed financially—and you can bring your friends.”
That was in the 90’s. And now over a million women have been helped through the seminars and the books. Did we reach you yet? If not, it’s not too late.
Smart Women Finish Rich is coming to a city near you! We’ll be presenting over 75 seminars in 14 markets, over 30 days. Click here to register today!
“There’s no money in women and money.” In 1994 when I wanted to teach my first workshop for women, I was told this repeatedly by men older than me in the management of my firm. They all said that I should drop the idea. Other brokers teased me. In simple terms I was told, “There is no money in women and money.” I was told women were not investors and couldn’t make decisions…that they only invested in CD’s, weren’t interested and certainly would not attend a class on the topic of women and money.
Fortunately I didn’t listen to these naysayers and I pushed forward. All excited to launch my first seminar, I turned to a local newspaper to run my first ad (a big investment of $500 at the time). The ad guy (an older man) actually laughed at me over the phone and said, “Son—I don’t want to take your money. Running that ad is just flushing money down the toilet. There is no way you are going to teach a class on women and money and have any women there.”
Well again, fortunately I didn’t listen. I invited my clients and my mom (of course), who then invited her friends—and as they say, the rest is history. That first seminar taught in Lafayette, California would have over 150 women attend (225 RSVP’d—and the room couldn’t fit them all). Since then, we have taught this class throughout the U.S. and Canada in thousands of cities. Between the book, Smart Women Finish Rich, and the seminar, over a million women have been educated on sound financial principles to live a rich life where their money decisions align with their values.
So why the long post? My friends, I have just completely updated my Smart Women Finish Rich seminar for 2014, and we are doing a “soft launch” before year end, where we will present over 75 seminars in 14 markets over 30 days.
If you have read the book or ever wanted to attend the class, this is your chance. Come show “them” that women are interested in money, that you are managing your own money and that you are the economic powerhouses of America.
I can’t wait for my team of personally-trained instructors (yes, I personally trained them) to inspire you, educate you and move you to action. My Grandma Bach always said, “She who manages the ‘gold,’ makes the rules.”
Come make your own rules. Register today.
Here’s my Grandma Rose Bach, the woman who inspired me to teach and write Smart Women Finish Rich. We took this picture before the book came out, but unfortunately she had a stroke and passed away before its release in 1998.
Grandma Bach believed all women should be in control over their money. She started with nothing and at age 30 made a decision that would change the destiny of our family, that decision being she wanted to be financially secure.
She started by taking classes on investing, finding mentors, and saving every penny she could. She started when she was earning $10 a day. By the time she passed, she was a self-made millionaire and more importantly, she had shared her lessons with her family (my father, me and my sister) and we would spend our lives teaching others her lessons.
Today I am proud, excited and even nervous to announce that we are bringing back the Smart Women Finish Rich seminars nationwide in October. This seminar that led to the book that was inspired by Grandma Bach has educated and inspired hundreds of thousands of women across North America.
I have been in head-down mode for the past three months, updating the seminar for 2014. Registration is now open. We’ll be presenting over 75 seminars in 14 markets, over thirty days.
If you’ve read the book or attended the seminar before, you’ll love this new program as it covers what you need to know now, in 2014! To all my friends, readers and students who have pushed me to bring this program back out and update it…the day is here. I really hope you love it! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Big hug my friends.
I stopped by the TMZ studios in NYC last week to talk about celebrity entrepreneurship and the fact that Jessica Alba’s start up company just raised $70 million, making the company worth almost $1 billion! Jessica is a great example of a smart woman who’s finishing rich. Watch the video here. (The segment starts at the 17.38 marker.)
