Take The "Start Over" Latte Factor® Challenge

The Latte Factor® is based on the simple idea that all you need to do to finish rich is to look at the small things you spend your money on every day and see whether you could redirect that spending to yourself. Putting aside as little as a few dollars a day for your future rather than spending it on little purchases such as lattes, bottled water, fast food, cigarettes, magazines and so on, can really make a difference between accumulating wealth and living paycheck to paycheck.

We don't even realize how much we're actually spending on these little purchases. If we did think about it and change our habits just a little, we could actually change our destiny.

So get started today! Identify what your Latte Factor® actually is by tracking your spending for a full day then calculating just how much you could save in a few years. The Latte Factor® Calculator below makes it easy. This simple exercise can be life-changing. It adds up, so don't delay...get started today!

I travel a lot and get bored on airplanes so I buy magazines...about 4 per week. At $3.99 and $4.99, that adds up. What I didn't realize was all the other little incidentals I pick up in airports. Gum $1.99, bottled water $1.99, playing cards $4.99 and I even spent $40 on wine at an airport last week! In fact, in one day, I spent over $90 of my own money on a company expensed trip. I wasn't even paying for my own food or gas! And I complain that my debt is too high and I never have enough to pay bills, much less save, but after seeing this I think I can find free ways to entertain myself and carry a refillable water bottle and SAVE $90! Thanks David for opening my eyes.

For 2 1/2 straight years, my indulgence is getting a manicure AND pedicure EVERY single Sunday. My routine was go to church, then have a perfect & relaxing mani/pedi. I never even thought twice about this. At 26 years old, I have wanted to buy a home for 3 years. I have an automatic "home savings" account as well. I felt as if I couldn't get to the 5% down payment, plus closing costs, plus 3 months savings you write about. So 6 months ago when I heard about your "Latte Factor" I reviewed my own life, and decided to change my routine to one mani/pedi every 8 weeks.

Well, let me tell you, at $45 per week plus tip = $50. That is $200 a month or $2,600 a year. I have spent $6,500 on mani's/pedi's. That is ridiculous!! As I am reading your book, I was going to take a break today and go and get one, even though it would be a few days sooner than my 8 weeks mark. Thankfully, while reading your book I see how important it is to stick to my guns and follow a path that will lead to a home purchase shortly.

Upon taking your Latte Factor test, I found that I was spending about $5.00/day on fast food. I just hate to eat unhealthy David, but in the morning when you are running late for work, there is really no time to make a healthy meal for the day. When I find myself starving at work, I have no choice but to make the fast food run. I am in sales and it seems as if we are always on the go in a fast paced environment.

At $5.00/day my Wendy's Factor in this case was costing me:
$5.00 x 30 = $150/month
$5.00 x 365 = $1,825/year
$5.00 x 3,650 = $ 18,250/decade

This was just insane David, and I knew that after computing the totals of what my Wendy's Factor was costing me that I'd be sick to my stomach. Take a look at this, to see what it was costing me if I were to invest the money with an annual rate of return at 10%. ($150/month)

1 year = $1,885
2 years = $3,967
5 years =$11,616
10 years = $30,727
15 years = $62,171
30 years = $339,073
40 years = $948,611

After seeing these figures I knew it was time to make a change. After reading your books, I now have the comfort and security to know that my savings are all AUTOMATIC, and my path to retirement is on auto pilot. Thanks a MILLION David, literally. Ha ha.
